Tiny Pretty Things: Review

I recently read this book called: Tiny Pretty Things Dhonielle Clayton and Sona Charaipotra. Read ahead for the review!

About

3 main characters are enrolled in the ABC. Each with their own struggles, agendas, and dance extensions. Gigi, is new to the school. She comes from California and has trouble integrating into this cut-throat environment. Bette, is always behind the shadow of her prima ballerina older sister, Adele. Will she last with all the pressure being put on her? Lastly, is June. She is tired of always being the understudy. She wants a place at the top! June suffers from an eating disorder and is not afraid to seek revenge.

Review

This book was really gripping! I was in a reading slump for a while, so, I decided to pick up Tiny Pretty Things. It is great for the summer time because it is light and easy. However, if you are looking for a book that uses better vocabulary and is more dense, this is NOT for you. At points, this book was a bit like a soap opera. As a result, I felt a bit overwhelmed at points. Overall though, it was very interesting and there was a decent amount of character development. I really felt for the main characters and am actually currently reading the next book in the series Shiny Broken Pieces. I would highly recommend this book to anyone in a reading slump or on summer vacation. The main characters pull you in from page 1 and it is a nice break from the dense books assigned at school.
